The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a game created by Edmund McMillen and Nicalis on November 4, 2014.The game is set around the aptly named boy, Isaac. He and his mother lived by themselves in a small house on a hill. He kept himself entertained with his toys, as his mother watched Christian Broadcasts on the television.

One day, Isaac's mother hears the voice of the biblical God, who tells her that Isaac has become corrupt. She takes away his toys and drawings, and god speaks to her once more. Isaac is still corrupt, and she takes away every little thing she owns, and locks him in his room. God contacts her once more, and says that despite all she has done, Isaac is still corrupt. She must prove her faith by sacrificing him.

She accepts this test, and begins to search for Isaac.Isaac becomes fearful for his life and finds an opening to the basement in his room, under the carpet. Without a second thought, he jumps down the opening just as his mother bursts into his room, brandishing a knife. The plot of the game revolves around Isaac escaping deeper into the depths, collecting items remniscent of his upbringing as he runs from his mother. After a time, he confronts her deep in the dungeon and his fate becomes sealed in an assortment of ways.A video by The Game Theorists showcases a lot of the hidden lore in Rebirth. 02nd November 2015Started the guide.Completed the floors section.

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth has a plethora of floors and variations, especially with the new Afterbirth DLC. This section hopes to cover each floor, and their variations.Chapter 1The BasementThe Basement appears to be an uncommon variant of the first chapter, despite being the default. Its enemies are considered easier than The Cellar and Burning Basement. It's theme includes flies and poop. The CellarThis variant is unlocked by defeating each and every boss within The Basement, as well as beating Gemini's smaller twin before the larger Gemini.

It is not required that you defeat Steven to unlock this. The theme is that of spiders and poop. The Burning BasementDLCMany of the enemies will be set on fire, and rocks may be replaced with fire. This allows for pickups to be accessed that otherwise wouldn't be due to the inability to blast through walls.

This makes The Burning Basement a high-risk-high-reward type floor. The theme of this floor variant is solely fire.Chapter 2The CavesThis chapter is the default variant of the second chapter. The enemies are considerably harder than that of Chapter 1, and have a higher focus on damaging the player than the previous chapter. The primary theme is death. The CatacombsThis is the less common variant of The Caves. It is unlocked once each boss in The Caves is defeated. The enemies are primarily the same, and as such, the primary theme also revolves around death. The Flooded CavesDLCThis is the variant of floor given by the Afterbirth DLC.

The enemies are substantially harder than the caves, and the floor is covered with a layer of water. The primary theme for this floor is drowning and bloating as shown on the enemy variants found across the rooms.Chapter 3The DepthsThis floor appears to be the least common variant of the floors found within Chapter 3, despite being the default.

It's enemies are harder than that of Chapter 2 as there is a wider difference of enemies. The main theme is unclear, however the bosses show the theme leaning towards that of facing fears. The 'Mom' boss fight will always appear on the second floor in this chapter. The NecropolisThe Necropolis is unlocked once each boss in The Depths is defeated. The majority of enemies are the same as The Depths and thus it can be concluded that the theme is also that of facing fears. The Dank DepthsDLCThe Dank Depths is the Chapter 3 DLC floor. The enemies seem to be the same. The theme is that of tar and sewage.

Chapter 4The WombThe Womb is the first variant of the Chapter 4 rooms that you'll come across. All damage taken will be a whole heart, as opposed to the half a heart that was taken on lower floors. The UteroUnlike lower alternate floors, The Utero is available from the get-go.

Not much is changed from The Womb and the only major difference are the aesthethics of the room such as the bone strutting from the wall in various areas. The Scarred Womb DLCThis is part of the Afterbirth DLC, and is centered around the theme of decay. As like all variants of Chapter 4, on the second floor, the boss will always be 'Mom's Heart' until it's beaten eleven times, where it permanently changes to 'It Lives'.Chapter 5The Cathedral'The Cathedral' is one of two unlockable floors after The Womb/The Utero, with the other being 'Sheol' It is accessed by entering the beam of light after beating Chapter 4's boss. The theme of this floor is acceptance and the positive view of death. The boss will always be Isaac.Sheol'Sheol' is the alternate floor to 'The Cathedral'. It is accessed by jumping down the trapdoor in the devil room instead of entering the beam of light. The boss room will always contain The Fallen, and then Satan's first and second form.

The fight proceeds as follows; you go in, and after a few moments two kamikaze leeches will spawn on either side of The Fallen. Once The Fallen has been beaten, the statue of Satan in the middle of the room will break and the fight with him commences. He'll fire blood shots to the left and right sides in a cone shape, and laser beams in front of him. (Note: I usually am okay with this stage if I stay behind him.

Once he's down, he will dissapear and he will launch goat hoofs that stomp on you. After a few stomps, each time a kamikaze leech will spawn (Note: Best to move around the edges of the room for better dodging. StarRacer)The Blue WombDLCThis floor is accessed by beating the Chapter 4 boss in under thirty minutes. The chapter will always contain four golden chests, two locked treasure rooms that each contain a choice of two items, a shop, and a door that leads to the chapters boss. The boss located in this chapter is considered one of the strongest in the game and should only be attempted with the best items, as well as keys to open all four chests and treasure rooms.Chapter 6The ChestThis is the route the player will take after 'The Cathedral' if they have 'The Polaroid' equipped. Each room is usually a boss or a miniboss, and the floors boss is always '???/Blue Baby' The starting room will always contain four golden chests that always contain treasure room items. After beating 'The Chest' for the first time, it will always contain a door that can be opened if you have both Key Pieces, or 'Dad's Key'. This allows access to the game's final boss, Mega Satan.Dark RoomThis is the counterpart room to 'The Chest'. It is unlocked by defeating Satan five times.

It can be entered by touching The Chest dropped by Satan with 'The Negative' equipped. The first room will always contain four red chests, and any golden, or brown chests found will always drop treasure room items. Just like 'The Chest', after beating Dark Room for the first time, it will always contain a door that can be opened if you have both Key Pieces, or 'Dad's Key'. This allows access to the game's final boss, Mega Satan. The VoidDLC+. The Duke of FliesThe Duke of Flies is one of the more difficult bosses within the basement. His main ability revolves around coughing out attack flies that circle him, and floating around the screen in various directions.

Due to his apparent ability to fly, he takes a large amount of knockback from Isaac's tears. Once enough flies are circling him, he coughs violently; causing all surrounding flies to stop circling him, and begin to follow Isaac instead.A good strategy is to use bombs to clear out the shield of flies that he creates. It is desired to kill all flies that he spawns before damaging the Duke as the player can become quickly overwhelmed and it may become hard to make the battle even again.GeminiGemini are a set of parasitic twins attached via an umbilical cord. The larger twin will walk towards isaac, trying to deal contact damage. Every so often, he charges with increased speed for a few seconds before running out of breath and stopping for a few seconds, essentially paralysed. The smaller twin shoots blood-shots at a distance.

The umbilical cord tethers the two together and prevents them from moving too far apart from each other.Once the larger of the two twins are killed, the smaller becomes starved of oxygen and begins to charge at the player. The smaller twin takes exceptional knockback and can therefore arc whilst charging due to the lack of weight. The best strategy for dealing with Gemini is to run around the edges of the room and to only attack when the larger twin is depleted of stamina.

Items such as 'Mom's Pad' have a movement-imparing effect and, because of this, they can be very useful when fighting Gemini. It is also advised that you kill the smaller of the twins first as it becomes much more difficult once the larger twin dies.StevenSteven is unlocked by clearing the basement 30 times and is difficult to find.As an alternate to Gemini, he is relatively similar in many ways.

However there are a few differences to the original boss. One such difference is that the smaller twin is directly attached to Steven as opposed to being attached via umbilical cord. After a third of his life has been delpeted, the smaller steven will split from the former and begin to chase Isaac in a manner to the smaller Gemini after the larger one dies. When Steven dies, he will either drop the familiar Little Steven or the damage up item called Steven. If you have already pciked both of these items up he will drop a random boss pool item.Upon defeating Steven you will get the achievment Little Steven and Little Steven will now also appear in the boss and treasure item pools.MonstroMonstro will randomly switch between hopping to the player's most recent location, and throwing up a burst of blood shots. Once Monstro lands after jumping, he releases a shot in many directions. To fight him, it is advised to stay at a medium range. The blood shots will most likely go over your head, leaving the attack relatively harmless. Bombs are considered an advantage due to his large amount of health.

Every shot he launches has an opening you can use to avoid the attack if cornered, or in long range of Monstro. A good strategy is to move as far away as possible from Monstro so his blood shots can't reach you, then firing at him when he's unable to attack.Larry Jr.Larry Jr. Is a segmented worm that will almost always spawn with a duplicate. He quickly moves around the room, leaving poop piles at the end of his body in random locations. Each segment takes it's own damage, and once a segment is damaged enough the worm will split in that location, creating two smaller worms. To fight Larry Jr.

Effectively, use upgrades such as 'Cupid's Arrow' that give you piercing shots. This allows for each segment to be damaged as the tears pass through them, making short work of the boss. Items such as IPECAC are extremely effective and should always be considered when fighting Larry Jr.FamineFamine has two distinct stages. The first stage consists of charging left or right off the edge of the screen. At this point, he will re-enter the screen again from the other side before stopping to spawn either a Pooter or a Fat Fly.

He is only able to maintain a maximum of two of these at any one time, and as long as these flies are on screen, he will not move around or attack unless Isaac is in his line of sight. His second stage starts when he only has one third of his health remaining. At this point, he will loose his body and horse, and become a floating head. During this phase, he becomes much more immobile, but instead throws up three shots of blood that expand outwards in a cone shape. As always, a good strategy to fight a boss that spawns extra enemies is to take out the minions first. This will stop you from being over encumbered with enemies, and allow you to have a stronger foothold in the fight.DingleDingle is a mobile boss that has a total of three different attacks. It's first attack is a triple shot of blood that occurs after he smirks. The second attack is whistling to summon 1 - 3 Dips from his body then firing a triple shot. It's third attack starts with Dingle puffing his cheeks, beginning the sequence of three quick dashes, after which he'll cease moving for a short time to catch his breath.

Occasionally, Dingle will leave behind a pile of poop while using this attack. This only affects the layout of the room.A good strategy is to move to the opposite side of the map as he smirks. This prevents the tears from hitting you as his tears will shoot where you were standing as he smirked. To dodge his dash, move left or right ASAP.

This will guarantee missing the dash and allow you to set yourself up for his next dash.GurglingsThe Gurglings are a pair of small lumps that are most likely the start of the Gurdy evolution. They're two seperate entities and can attack independently. Each of the two entities attack in the same way; they will walk around the room while producing trails of red blood on the floor, occasionally stopping to either charge toward the player or spawn a few flies. The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth has lots of characters that you can play as, I will list off their stats and tips.Isaac is the first character you can play as. He has 3 red hearts, a base 1.0 speed stat, a base tear and shot speed stat of 1, a base damage stat of 3.5, a base 23.75 range stat, and the default luck stat, which is 0. He is the most balanced character out of them all and is not really a good character to play as in the long run, until you beat Isaac with Blue Baby A.K.A.??? And unlock the D6 for Isaac which rerolls all pedestals in the room into a different item of the same item pool.

This item gives Isaac a large advantage later game when the D6 is unlocked for him.DLC: If you have Chaos, it can reroll into any item from any pool.Isaac also begins with a bomb.UnlocksBeating Boss Rush unlocks Isaac's head.Beating Mom's Heart on hard unlocks the Lost Baby co-op baby.Beating Hush Unlocks Fart Baby.Beating Isaac unlocks Isaac's Tears.Beating Satan unlocks Mom's Knife.Beating Ultra Greed unlocks Lil' Chest.Beating??? They are an average character all around except for one thing, they have 4 hearts and an item called the 'Yum Heart' which gives you a red heart every use. They have 4 red hearts, 1 speed, 2 tear shot speed, 2 attack and 2 range. Great character over all but it suffers from low speed.(More will be added l8tr m80 - KraKen).
