PangoBright is a simple utility that makes it easy to adjust the brightness of your monitor or monitors. Although many of us park our computers on a desk in our office or home, there are plenty of other environments in which they turn up. In some of these settings, such as nightclubs, theaters, planetariums, and darkened lecture halls, a bright monitor can be a distraction. DJs, theater techs, presentation givers, and anyone else who operates in a dark environment and doesn't want the screen stealing the show will love PangoBright.PangoBright requires no installation and appears as an icon in your system tray once it's opened. Clicking on it reveals a menu with brightness options ranging from 20 percent to 100 percent of maximum brightness.

If you're using multiple monitors, the menu allows you to set the brightness of each one individually. That's all there is to it. The publisher's Web site contains information about the program and brief instructions, but they're really not necessary, as PangoBright is extremely intuitive. The program is also lightweight and not a drain on system resources; you won't even know it's there until you need it. Sometimes the smallest utilities can make a big difference, and that's definitely the case with PangoBright. Those who have ever worked in a dark environment and have wished that their monitor could easily tone it down will appreciate this clever tool. PangoBright is a free 'screen dimmer' Windows utility for setting the brightness of your main screen as well as external monitors. You can choose which screens will be set to the selected brightness level. PangoBright is small (the EXE is around 100K bytes), and is easy on your processor. It has one job, and one job only: to dim your screen(s).Perfect for nightclubs, DJs, theater lighting, planetariums or anyone working in the dark with multiple monitors For video presentations use PangoBright to dim your laptop screen, while leaving the VGA output at full brightness on the projector It's the only Windows solution that allows you to control the brightness of multiple monitors. After installation, PangoBright sits in the System Tray at the bottom right of your Windows screen. Just click on the red 'P' logo, and the PangoBright pop-up menu appears.

Scroll down to your desired brightness level and click. Reply by pauloauge on March 16, 2017In addition to allowing you to control the brightness, PangoBright actually also allows you to control the hue. We added hue in response to feedback by visually impaired people. Please see the menu 'Choose fadeout color' just below the brightness selections. In your case, it could that you accidentally change it, or that it defaulted to some greenish hue for some reason. In any event, we invite you to play around with this a bit more. PangoBright offers a degree of flexibility we haven't seen in other products.

Reply by pauloauge on January 6, 2017Hi, and thanks for your feedback! I'd like to clarify a few things you wrote.First, I would prefer to say that it SETS the brightness TO 70%. I chose the word SETS rather than 'dims' because when I first read your post, I thought maybe it decreased the brightness by 70% (making it really dim). This is not the case. When you first install the program, it affects brightness only enough to let you know that.something. happened, but doesn't decrease it so much as to be cumbersome.Second, the 'hidden' area of the screen you're talking about is called the 'system tray'.

It has been a part of Windows since 1995. I want to make sure people understand that there's nothing 'hidden' about it. It's just the small area in the lower right hand corner of the screen.Third, you have a good point that it does not have a slider, but rather has specific gradation selections with 10% increments. I think that's a legitimate complaint, but we prefer it our way;-).
